The Temple of Santo Domingo was a monastery since the 17th century, build by Dominican Order, it was later use as military base and barracks, and finally the church was restored to the religious use and the monastery became a museum.

Árbol del Tule & Santa María del Tule.

Tule Tree at Santa María del Tule Oaxaca

"Arbol del Tule" 42 meters wide.

Tule Tree is at the atrium of Santa Maria´s Church.

 Near Oaxaca city, at Santa María del Tule you will find one of the biggest trees in the world, know as "Arbol del Tule", it has 42 meters wide, 40 meters high. It is more than 2000 years old, so it is a true witness of mexican history.

Once, a rich man tried to buy it from the people of Santa Maria so he could cut it down and sell the wood, fortunately they didn't accept and the tree is still with us.

Mitla, Oaxaca.

About half an hour from Oaxaca, in the same direction as if you were going to Hierve el Agua Falls, you will find Mitla ruins. Mitla was a prehispanic city destroyed by the spanions, only a few buildings are left.

You can visit the ruins, the church, a little market where you can buy clothes made by local people, handcrafts, souvenirs, Alebrijes, silver jewelry and some other stuff. There is also delicious regional food all over the place, so you can taste some new flavors here.

Hierve el Agua Petrified Falls

If you want to visit one of the most amazing landscapes in the whole world, you should go to the Petrified Falls of Hierve el Agua, they are located about an hour by car from the city of Oaxaca. There are a lot of tours to get there, in case you have a car, you should drive as if you were headed to the archeological ruins of Mitla, when you get to Mitla continue on the same road until you find a sign that says Hierve el Agua to the right. This is a very narrow road which eventually enters a small town, there are sings there but if you feel confused you just have to ask, everybody knows the way and everybody will be glad to help.

Once you get there you can buy some food and water, but as you can swim it will be better if you eat latter. The water comes out from the ground in the top of the falls and there are two natural pools where you can go in. One is near the edge and the other is a little bit higher.

There are two main falls, you are going to be on the top of one of them, there are some paths that lead to the other ones, is not to far but it can be a little hard to reach them.
