"Guelaguetza" it means "to give and receive", it is the most important celebration in Oaxaca, every region of the state come together at one big party, they all dance and play their traditional music, they speck in their native tongues, and they bring presents for the people. It is a 4 hours amazing show full of color, joy, music and brotherhood.

This looks amazing! When does this festival take place?
ReplyDeleteHello Windy, the next year Guelaguetza will be on monday 22 and monday 29 of july 2013. You can buy tickets or get in free. To get the free access you should arrive at 6:00 a.m. to Cerro el Fortin to get in line, the festival begins at 10:00 a.m. There is another in the afternoon but then you will have to be on line under the sun! :/ The photos I posted are from the evening show.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Maybe one year I'll be able to attend!!
