Campeche, Campeche

Hotel Castelmar
Campeche is one of the most beautiful states of Mexico, it has some of the most amazing Mayan ruins, like Edzna and Calakmul which we have already posted on this blog. It also has historical places of great interest like San Miguel and San Carlos Forts located at its capital city Campeche.

Food is delicious, you can find diferent kind of "tamales", seafood, traditional dishes and so much more that you should try everything.

Edzná, Campeche

Edzna in Campeche is a mayan archeological site with one of the most impressive buildings, the "Building of the five floors", an amazing construction full of rooms, doors and windows, it looks quiet enigmatic.

You have to walk a couple of hours at least to visit the whole area, it´s hot most of the time,  it can get over 30 celsius, so bring water, you can't buy it inside.

Misol Ha Falls

Misol Ha, Chiapas

Misol Ha Falls is another beautiful destination  only 30 km. from Palenque ruins, you will find a lovely waterfall with a big pool where you can take a swim if you like. There is also a cave with another small waterfall inside, if you want to go in there, you can pay a guide just outside the cave¨s entrance, he will provide you a lantern also. It´s really hot inside but since you can´t go to far that should´t be a problem.

You can buy some food at the place,  and there are also cabins for rent in case you want to spend the night.

Agua Azul Falls, Chiapas

Well since we have already been to Palenque if you are still in Chiapas there is a beautiful place very near the ruins, Agua Azul Falls, you can´t miss this place.

Usually you arrive by the lowest side of the river, there you can enjoy the beautiful view of the falls (photo above), and there is also a small natural pool where you can swim. You can buy a swimsuit or shorts there in case you weren´t prepared, they also sell food and handcrafts. You can continue by the river side, while you go up you´ll find different views of the falls and eventually there will be new places where you can swim, this time there will be bigger ones. Water is cold but as it is very hot outside you should have not much problem with that.
